Everyone knows summer is a time to unwind, relax, shop, eat and just have loads of fun in general. And even though Singapore is well-equipped to provide such activities all-year round, come holiday season it really amps up its “Get Ready To Have A Good Time” vibe. From mall happenings to museum exhibits and park concerts to festivals, we’re gonna provide you with the “can’t be missed” events and things to do in Singapore with kids. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, we’ll add the word FREE to all this fun!

 

Mall Madness

Leap Into Action

Get ready to join paws with Ryder, Marshall, Chase and Sky as they leap into action. And stay tuned as Rubble makes his first appearance in Asia at United Square Mall. There will be stage shows, meet and greets and even a Paw Patrol contest where you can win more than $1,000 worth of prizes!

Got Paw Partrol fans in your house? Now you can bring them down to Hillion Mall where little ones can enjoy Paw Patrol-themed ride-ons!

Marine Interactive Touchpool Experience

Hosted by Edufest, this event is a must for the likes of those who just want to see what little creatures are all about. Now they can experience the touch and feel of live marine animals including turtles, corals, starfish and many more. Sign up ASAP because there are limited slots available!

LEGO Bricks Challenge

Another great event by Edufest, this challenge allows kids to put their thinking caps on and plan, create and build. Requirements include completing a designated LEGO design fixture in 20 minutes. Take home an instant photo of your completed masterpiece.

Pony Adventure – UE Square

At this collaborative event by Young Parents and UE Square, get ready to ride and feed cute little ponies. There will be other fun-filled activities as well. And if your kids come dressed as a cowboy or cowgirl and visit their photobooth, they might even get the chance of appearing in the magazine’s upcoming fashion spread.

A Paw-fect Family Day – Rochester Mall

Calling all dog-owners, dog-lovers and families looking to have fun. This event promises an entire day of excitement ranging from creative dog contests, handling and training demos, snacks stations, craft workshops and even a dog adoption drive for those looking to add a new member to their family.

Nick Jr. Power Squad – City Square

Backpack! Backpack! This is not a cry from parents hounding kids to get ready for school. This is Dora the Explorer and her friends Boots and Diego calling all kids to join them on a new adventure geared towards bravery and kindness. After the exciting show, head outdoors for many fun-filled activities at the bustling carnival.

Festival Fun

Pitstops for Kids Carnival

Organised by Supreme Parents, this all-day carnival at Park Avenue Convention Centre will have something for the entire family. From balloon sculpting to roving magicians and educational booths to charity corners, it will call for making a pit stop to each and every booth!

The Kidz Academy

Get ready to fill your June holidays with a wide range of fun and educational activities from The Kidz Academy and their esteemed partners and exhibitors. We’re talking inflatable play zones, trial classes, luck draws and much more. Over the course of 3 days, watch fun and learning become a killer combination. Admission is free but register now!

FLIPSIDE: ESPLANADE

At this 10-day festival at the Esplanade, kids and adults alike will be able to find something to their liking. Get ready to explore a range of engaging activities covering music, puppetry, physical theatre, comedy and visual arts. A lots of the events will be “participatory” meaning the audience is encourage to join in if they get the urge. So whether you want to explore how it feels to be a puppeteer or music composer, come on down and check it out. Choose from a series of ticketed and free performances from both international and local artists.

STORYFEST 2018

Storytelling is an activity which will never get old. Storyfest 2018 brings the best of stories from Singapore and around the world to audiences both young and old. Parents and children can look forward to an exciting line-up of family-friendly performances, workshops and activities over the course of the festival. In addition to paid workshops like Safe Space Stories and The Magic of Storytelling with Children, expect free community initiatives for the public like Story Cloth Making and Story House. Be prepared to get lost in the world of words!

Singapore Book Fair 2018

Singapore Book Fair 2018 is back and will be held in two iconic venues: Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES. The fair will feature workshops, talks, books sharing sessions and performances. There will be a special Kids Zone hosting kids workshops and books.

IMAGINARIUM: INTO THE SPACE OF TIME

Singapore Art Museum’s Imaginarium series has always been a family-friendly affair. Now in its 8th edition, kids will not only be able to engage their senses and expand their horizons but also understand concepts of time and space through immersive and interactive artworks by artists from the region and around the world.

ROLLING @ THE ARTGROUND

The new interactive play space at The Artground is now ready for action! Rolling @ TAG encourages children’s spontaneity and inventiveness. There are no rules as to how children can or should experience the space. Be intrigued by cause-and-effect phenomena created by media technology involving sounds and lights and discover what the relationship is between different elements in this visual arts exhibition. Explore fun and free craft, dance and other workshops at the Artground over the holidays!

THE MORE WE GET TOGETHER: Singapore’s playgrounds

Parents will be taken back to their childhoods to relive playful memories while kids will be able to make fun predictions of what playtime will look like in the future. Throughout the exhibition, visitors will be able to explore different playground surfaces, take a closer look at the original blueprints of some of Singapore’s iconic playgrounds and even learn what their meaning holds to our society as a whole.  You will not only be able to hear from those who have built previous playgrounds but from those who are designing current and future ones as well.  What’s more, the audience can become a part of  the future as they throw in their own designs towards the building of the National Museum’s very own playground.

Fun Walk Along the Southern Ridges

One of the best parts about Singapore weather is that you can indulge in outdoor activities all year round. So instead of lazying around the TV, grab the entire family for a leisurely stroll through the Southern Ridges, a soothing green sanctuary filled with exciting flora and fauna. Highlights of this 2-hour tour will include the Henderson Waves, Forest Walk and the Singing Forest.

If you’re looking for an alternative to Botanic Gardens and Jacob Ballas, how about a guided tour of Bishan-Ang Mo Kio as well as Coney Island Park? Learn about their biodiversity through fun activities. Work as a team answering worksheets, conducing surveys and going for photo hunts.

Weekend in the Park: Lifestyle Markets and Workshops

East Coast Park is fun to visit all year round but come summer break it becomes an essential go to. On June 9-10, visit the park to not only enjoy nature and soak in the sun but also attend fun craft workshops and pick up unique knick knacks. Pop by any business outlet, pick up some free chalk and feel free to unleash your creativity right there on the floor surfaces of Parkland Green.

Tian Tian@SCCC Exhibition

Kids can’t help being naturally curious so why not take them to meet comic character Tian Tian, the little boy who is constantly curious about everything and anything. This exhibition at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre showcases over 120 Tian Tian figurines designed by local and international partners.

Pokemon-Are They Biologically Possible?

The story of Pokemon has taken the kiddie world by storm. Are you curious to find out how these animated characters would function and behave if they were real animals? Attend an inspirational talk by Gurion Ong at the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum where the audience will be challenged to find similarities and differences between the many Pokemon species and various flora and fauna from the natural world.

Chinese Fan Painting Workshop

A fan always comes handy in the summer. A hand painted one is even better. In this Chinese painting workshop kids can have fun painting their own handheld fan and even learn about the auspicious meanings of various fish symbols in Chinese culture.

Little Critters Castanets

My Piano Room at the Esplanade is a music and piano education studio that holds many fun music workshops for the young. In this one, kids will get the chance to make their own castanets and engage in an entertaining music and movement session.
