As we speak, CNY activities are probably swamping you down and all around. But if you’re looking for things to do with kids over the Chinese New Year school holidays and need a little New Year detox, we’re here to let you know that there are several other non-CNY related events also occurring.

WILD RUMPUS

The Artground is forever bringing unique and entertaining activities for little ones and Wild Rumpus is no exception. Kids will be encouraged to dive deep into their imagination to confront creatures, big, small, furry and gentle. Watch with wonder and happiness as your little ones hug, cuddle and squeeze their new “friends” made out of waste fabric, upcycled materials and other industrial tidbits.

SINGAPORE BICENTENNIAL

It’s been 200 years since Raffles discovery of this beautiful city-state and the Bicentennial is here to take visitors, residents and citizens on an awe-inspiring journey from Singapore’s modest past to its impressive present and on to an exciting future. Kicking off today, this year-long celebration of everything Singapore is sure to blow your minds away. Check out the statutes at Parliament Place of those important figures who made their mark as early as 1299. Visit special commemorative exhibitions at both The Asian Civilizations Museum and the National Museum of Singapore. Enjoy an exciting line-up of activities at iLight Singapore and the Night Festival held in conjunction with the Singapore Bicentennial. Mark your calendars for 5 June when you can head to the Istana Open House and support the community at its best.

Carnivals are fun for the entire family and Hasbro’s first ever multi-brand live carnival will be no exception. Grab all your loved ones and head on down to the massive and lush grounds of Palawan Green in Sentosa where you will be treated with exciting games and activities, live mascot appearances, plenty of photo ops and much much more. Watch your favourite childhood toys come to life in a supersized way! Enjoy magical moments at the My Little Pony Magical Kingdom and battle it out at the Transformers Arena.

LIGHT TO NIGHT FESTIVAL

Light to Night Festival returns to the Civic District bringing with it an exciting line-up of artworks and events inspired by the surrounding areas’ histories and stories. Comprising of 2 editions this year, the Art Week and Singapore’s Bicentennial will combine sound, music, poetry, narrative and landscape design to showcase the Civic District’s rich background. Make a picnic out of it by brining your own mat and spreading it on the grounds of the Empress Lawn which will be transformed into a festival food village. Now you’re all set to celebrate our Little Red Dot’s inspirational history.

DAHLIA DREAMS

New Year, new dahlias. Gardens by the Bay is excited to bring back its popular floral exhibition just in time to celebrate the Year of the Pig. Nestled amidst a scenic landscape, rotating water wheels and a majestic archway of red lanterns will lie dahlias with incredible blooms. Don’t forget to check out for the exquisite “Thousand Blooms” chrysanthemums arrangements while you’re there. The first floral display of the new year promises to be breathtaking and then some. Two words: Photo Ops!

I LIGHT SINGAPORE

With 33 sustainable light art installations and 5 exciting programming hubs, i Light Singapore 2019 is all set for festival-goers to enjoy a memorable experience. Watch in awe as numerous dancing lights transform the facade of the ArtScience Museum into a lighthouse. Feel proud at the Prospective Perspective installation where pegged laundry on bamboo poles is used to create an impression of Singapore’s signature skyline. Travel the Cavenagh bridge to reflect on ourselves and also people, places and things that surround us. Get involved int he Switch Off, Turn Up campaign to raise awareness on energy saving. Come together to commemorate Singapore’ Bicentennial in the most environmentally-friendly way!

PRUDENTIAL MARINA BAY CARNIVAL

Calling all the young (and young at heart) to Marina Bay as Singapore’s largest carnival returns! With an ample number of thrilling rides including The Star Tower, Cyclone Coaster, Log Flume and Pirate Ship and some new ones directly imported from Europe, get ready to scream to your heart’s content. Be sure to visit all the game stalls in between all these fun rides. Fuel up with classic carnival snacks like churros, curly fries and popcorn. Enjoy an eclectic line-up if live music performances covering everything from pop, hip hop and groovy Christmas tunes of course.

THE LEGO MOVIE 2 EVENT


Not 1 not 2 but 17 whole days dedicated to everything LEGO. Whether you are a kid or adults, a lover or a collector, this event will encourage all to play imaginatively through movie-making, story telling, dance and building workshops.Take photos with your favourite characters including Emmet and Lucy, create LEGO masterpieces on the Graffiti Wall, explore multiple LEGO Movie 2 universes and so much more.
